Package: util-linux
Version: 2.38-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

since updating util-linux from 2.37.3-1+b1 to 2.38-2, I've found that /bin/more
doesn't work as it used to anymore.

Previously, when using /bin/mode on a long file, it would display one page at a
time. Hitting the <SPACE> key would show the next page. When the last page was
displayed, the program would automatically finish, so directly after the last
line of output, there would be the prompt waiting for the next command.

Now, it's different: When the last page of output is shown, the program will
not quit immediately. Instead, the output from the last page will be pushed to
the top of the terminal screen, followed by empty lines, followed by "(END)" at
the bottom. In order to quit the program, one has to hit the "q" key -- just as
with less. But after it has finished, the prompt still is at the bottom of the
screen, not after the last non-empty line of output.

I use more and less for different purposes: more was a very convenient way to
display the contents from a file or the output of a program, and have it sit
there right above the command line, so I could use it for reference in my next
command (e.g., an sed one-liner where I want to see the general structure to
build a search or replace pattern). less is good for reading output without it
cluttering the screen, as it will disappear once the program has quit.

Would it be possible to get back the original behaviour of /bin/more, please?
