Package: qemu-system-common
Version: 1:7.2+dfsg-1~bpo11+2
Severity: normal
Dear Maintainer,
*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***
* What led up to the situation? Upgrade to current QEMU package from
previous bpo on bullseye-backports. Live migrate virtuals from old to another
identical system running same version of
bullseye-backports qemu software. Upgrade the packages to on current system to
7.2. Attempt to live migrate the previous virtuals back. Starts to copy, but
fails at the end and aborts transfer.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)? Migrating virtuals between two instances of the new 7.2
version works ok. Just fails going from old to new.
* What was the outcome of this action? Unable to easily upgrade without
shutting down virtuals and restarting.

There were upstream fix for 7.2 around migration from older
version and virtio-rng. 7.2.1 upstream (and debian 1:7.2+dfsg-5)
contains the fixes.
These fixes breaks unfixed-7.2 to fixed-7.2 migration though.
It looks like this bug report can be closed now.
