Package: kismet
Severity: important
Hi,
gpsd will soon drop the support for the old protocol, which is not able
to support more new features and functions. Kismet is still relying
on the old protocol - and it is *not* using libgps. So your upstream
will either have to migrate their code to the new protocol or start
using libgps instead. As the gpsd upstream asked other projects since a
long time to use libgps and the functions of the library - and as far as
I know - the Kismet upsteam never listened to them, I will *not* wait
for Kismet to support the new protocol before uploading the first
version which drops support for it. Same for a few other projects which
refrained to listen to the gpsd upstream developers while relying on
informations from their daemon.
Cheers,
Bernd
