compiz-plugins-extra is the only package in Debian that depends
on libxsettings-client, which is orphaned and depends on GTK 2. GTK 2 was
superseded by GTK 3 in 2011 (see <https://bugs.debian.org/947713>). It
has been discontinued by its upstream developer and no longer receives
any upstream maintenance at all.
Please look into whether this dependency chain can either be broken,
or upgraded to GTK 3.
Thanks,
smcv

Ok, done so!
