Package: wpasupplicant
Version: 2:2.10-16
Severity: important

Hey,

after upgrading to latest version, device wlan0 seems unmanageable by Network-Manager and wireless connection is unusable.

syslog :
host dbus-daemon[5230]: [system] Activating service name='fi.w1.wpa_supplicant1' requested by ':1.4' (uid=0 pid=5248 comm="/usr/sbin/NetworkManager --no-daemon") (using servicehelper) host dbus-daemon[5230]: [system] Activated service 'fi.w1.wpa_supplicant1' failed: Cannot launch daemon, file not found or permissions invalid host NetworkManager[5248]: <error> [1701078066.1153] device (wlan0): Couldn't initialize supplicant interface: Failed to D-Bus activate wpa_supplicant service

since changelog only lists "Move binaries to /usr.", i guess it's the conf files that need a related change as well..

# grep -nir '/sbin/wpa' /etc
/etc/wpa_supplicant/ifupdown.sh:96:
WPA_ACTION_SCRIPT="/sbin/wpa_action"
/etc/wpa_supplicant/action_wpa.sh:12:if [ ! -x /sbin/wpa_action ]; then
/etc/wpa_supplicant/functions.sh:32:WPA_SUP_BIN="/sbin/wpa_supplicant"
/etc/wpa_supplicant/functions.sh:39:WPA_CLI_BIN="/sbin/wpa_cli"
# grep -nir '/sbin/wpa' /usr
/usr/lib/systemd/system/[email protected]:12:ExecStart=/sbin/wpa_supplicant -c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant-nl80211-%I.conf -Dnl80211 -i%I /usr/lib/systemd/system/[email protected]:12:ExecStart=/sbin/wpa_supplicant -c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant-%I.conf -i%I /usr/lib/systemd/system/wpa_supplicant.service:11:ExecStart=/sbin/wpa_supplicant -u -s -O "DIR=/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=netdev" /usr/lib/systemd/system/[email protected]:12:ExecStart=/sbin/wpa_supplicant -c/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant-wired-%I.conf -Dwired -i%I /usr/share/dbus-1/system-services/fi.w1.wpa_supplicant1.service:3:Exec=/sbin/wpa_supplicant -u -s -O /run/wpa_supplicant

probably related to https://salsa.debian.org/debian/wpa/-/merge_requests/13

to workaround :
downgrade to 2:2.10-15
or
manually change /sbin/ -> /usr/sbin in conf files and restart network-manager.

thanks in advance,
d.
