Whoops, sorry! I am the one who is confused. First, I forgot about the
bug from June. Then the tracker hadn't updated. At good last, I
misunderstood the messages.

It's perhaps interesting to note that the Emacs summary interface to
Notmuch swallowed the original subject line, apparently because the
automated messages did not include it. Here is what I saw:
