The attached pdf file, bug.pdf, renders badly with gs. The problem
shows up with 'gv' (on an x11 display). Or I used this command line
(which I stole from "foomatic-rip -v"):
gs -dFirstPage=1 -q -dBATCH -dPARANOIDSAFER -dNOPAUSE -dNOINTERPOLATE
-sDEVICE=ps2write -r600x600 -dMediaPosition=0 -dDEVICEWIDTHPOINTS=612
-dDEVICEHEIGHTPOINTS=792 -sOutputFile=- bug.pdf > bug-v9.05.ps
In the resulting bug-v9.05.ps, the circuit and spring--mass diagram are
mostly not visible.
Admittedly, the PDF file itself is somewhat broken, and mupdf and gs/gv
emit lots of warnings when viewing it.
However, I tried rendering it with the gs 9.10 Linux 32-bit binaries
(from ghostscript.com), and it rendered fine. gs 9.10 even renders
everything that should be there (after guessing the fonts), which mupdf
doesn't manage to do (mupdf doesn't render the "k" above the spring or
the "m" in the square mass box, nor the "V" in the V_out or V_in on the
circuit).
Thus, as a fix (or workaround for a somewhat dubious pdf file), could gs
be upgraded to 9.10?

Ghostscript has since been updated. The last Debian stable shipped 10.0.0.
