Package: bash
Version: 4.1-3
i'm using Debian testing on my X-less server, controlled through ssh. and bash
behaves really strange when i type long comands. it leaves available space near
right border (about 15 chars of width) untouched and starts to write second line
over the first, erasing it. if i erase all with backspace, it erases 2nd line,
but 1st one i can't see anyhow. it is hard to explain, so please look at
screenshot set at attachment. i'm not sure if it's bash-related bug, as when i
tried dash, it was similar, but not exactly the same, so mb it's relaed to
readline or whatever.
this is not ssh bug, as when i plugged monitor+keyboard and tried to work on
tty, i got the same behaviour. as i can remember, this bug was present since the
installation (spring 2010). i have replaced getty with mingetty if it does
matter. also here is my uname
Linux srv 2.6.34-161 #1 Thu Jun 10 16:45:41 MSD 2010 i686 GNU/Linux
don't think it will help, as when it was on original kernel, everything was the
same with this bug.
have no idea, where it is coming from, as i used Debian testing quite a lot on
another machine (om my notebook) and got nothing like this.
sorry if i posted this at wrong place, please attach it to proper package in
this case.
feel free to reply by email to query any needed info

Hi,

this seems to be a duplicate of, or closely related to, <https://bugs.debian.org/1018851>.

The other bug report is more detailed and contains steps to reproduce the issue, so I'm closing this in favor of the other one.

Feel free to reopen this bug if you think that these two bugs are not related.

Regards,
