Package: splay
Version: 0.9.2-2
Severity: important

On my PPC system, splay plays white noise when decoding MP3s. I'd guess
this is an endianness error, since swapping the bytes in a sound file usually
result in this kind of noise. When trying to play .wav files, it complains
that it can't open /dev/dsp (even though it happily spews noise into it when
decoding mp3s!) mpg123 has no problem playing mp3s on this system. I'm using
the built-in sound hardware on this powermac, i.e. the dmasound driver.

 Interestingly, splay -d - foo.mp3 > /dev/dsp plays it correctly (when
the hardware is set to 16bit little endian, 44.1kHz, stereo. /dev/sndstat
shows this config with the PowerMac DMA sound driver.)
