python3-appdirs is dead upstream[1] and its Debian maintainer has indicated
that it should not be included in trixie[2]. A recommended replacement is
python3-platformdirs.
Before python3-appdirs can be removed from Debian, platformdirs needs to
drop its build-dependency. It's annotated as <!nocheck> so presumably it's
only there for some extended test coverage.
