Package: liferea
Version: 1.12~rc1-6
Severity: normal

Hello,

after upgrading to 1.12, the tray icon disappeared from the lxde panel. I found
that in Preferences/Plugins, one can activate the "Tray Icon (GNOME Classic)".

In the "About" popup of the "Tray Icon (GNOME Classic)" plugin there is an
accessibility icon: why?

The tray icon now shows the liferea window if it was hidden, but does not hide
it by just clicking on the icon. To hide the window I need to right click and
use "Show/hide" (one more click, frustrating). A single left-click on the icon
is handled to show the window, but not handled to hide it.

When showing the window that had been hidden, the window does not appear where
it was before, but it appears maximized on top of everything in the primary
display, no matter where it was. I find it frustrating, because every time I
need to spend effort to reposition the liferea window where I'd like to see it,
and after each hide and show it's again in a really inconvenient place. Note
that if I quit liferea and restart it, it actually reappears where it was.

I could switch to a quit/restart cycle instead of a hide/show cycle, but it
would have the drawback of triggering a refresh of each feed at every restart.

So, the issue was fixed years ago.

Upstream is discussing how best to handle the tray icon going forward, since GtkStatusIcon is deprecated (and doesn't work in latest GNOME on Bullseye whatsoever.)

Likely we'll move to Ayatana Indicators; an investigation is ongoing. Unfortunately the "activate" behavior described in the original issue is no more with Ayatana; a context menu is standard.
Although I'm not sure on the status of this.
