Package Salvaging Team <[email protected]>
Hi
I'm interested in salvaging your package mpm-itk, in accordance with the
Package Salvaging procedure outlined in the Developers Reference[1].
Your package meets the criteria for this process, and I would love to
assist in preserving and maintaining it. As the Salvage process
suggests, here is a list of the criteria that apply, in my opinion:
- Bugs filed against the package do not have answers from the
maintainer.
- There are QA issues with the package.
I've set up a repository within the salvage-team space[2] to assist you
with this initial setup. If you decide not to accept the ITS, this
repository can easily be moved to another location, such as debian/, or
any place of your choosing. I hope this service helps make the
transition to using a Git repository on Salsa smoother and more
convenient for you.
Your package was highlighted in the Bug of the Day[3] initiative, which
aims to introduce newcomers to manageable tasks and guide them through
the workflow to solve them. The focus of this initiative is on migrating
packages to Salsa, as it's a great way to familiarize newcomers with a
consistent Git-based workflow.
Kind regards
Andreas.

I guess its a waste of time to explain the advantages of a Vcs like Git
to you so I do not try. Having Salsa CI is I nice thing to have on top.
I do not see any reason to avoid this.

Lintian issues of the current packages are:
E: libapache2-mpm-itk: apache2-module-does-not-ship-load-file mpm_itk
[usr/lib/apache2/modules/mpm_itk.so]
E: libapache2-mpm-itk: copyright-not-using-common-license-for-apache2
W: mpm-itk source: package-uses-deprecated-debhelper-compat-version 9
I: mpm-itk source: debian-watch-file-is-missing
I: mpm-itk source: no-dh-sequencer [debian/rules]
I: mpm-itk source: out-of-date-standards-version 3.9.4 (released 2012-09-19)
(current is 4.7.0)
Lintian issues in https://salsa.debian.org/salvage-team/mpm-itk are:
E: libapache2-mpm-itk: apache2-module-does-not-ship-load-file mpm_itk
[usr/lib/apache2/modules/mpm_itk.so]
I: mpm-itk source: debian-watch-uses-insecure-uri
http://mpm-itk.sesse.net/mpm-itk-(\d[\d.-]+).tar.gz [debian/watch:3]
I guess the Error is a false positive.
I consider the latter a progress besides including the patch for
#833365.
Your choice - you are the maintainer which we happily verified now -
thus closing the ITS bug. Feel free to sign and upload or leave it as
is.
Thanks again for your quick response
Andreas.
