Hi,

I tried the game.

Ok, it's old and look old;
that can be a mater of taste.

But most importantly it does not work on any Unicode system,
as already reported in 2005:

   https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=311194

The original FTP (!) upstream is still there but is not going anywere.

There are better alternatives, I request the removal of this old game.

X Letters - Catch falling words

To install:

0. Read the GPL carefully if you don't know it by heart already. You
can find it in the file COPYING. It applies to xletters.

1. Edit the file config.h; apart from the SCOREFILE constant, you can
leave everything untouched if you want. You may also want to have a
look at the Imakefile.

2. Build xletters by typing
        xmkmf && make

3. Become root and install xletters by typing
        make install && make install.man
or install them by hand. You may want to make xletters sgid games.

4. Create the directory for the high score file (according to the
value you gave to the SCOREFILE constant in step 1). If you made
xletters sgid, you should also create the score file itself (make it
empty initially) and make it group-writeable.

We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following
package(s) have been removed from unstable:

  xletters |  1.1.1-5.1 | source
  xletters | 1.1.1-5.1+b1 | amd64, armel, armhf, i386, mips64el, ppc64el, s390x
  xletters | 1.1.1-5.1+b2 | arm64, riscv64

------------------- Reason -------------------
ROM; not compatible with any modern Unicode system
----------------------------------------------

Note that the package(s) have simply been removed from the tag
database and may (or may not) still be in the pool; this is not a bug.
The package(s) will be physically removed automatically when no suite
references them (and in the case of source, when no binary references
it). Please also remember that the changes have been done on the
master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next
dinstall run at the earliest.

Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks
unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed
from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency
problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is
really needed, please contact them if this should be the case.

We try to close bugs which have been reported against this package
automatically. But please check all old bugs, if they were closed
correctly or should have been re-assigned to another package.

Thank you for reporting the bug, which will now be closed. If you
have further comments please address them to [email protected].

The full log for this bug can be viewed at https://bugs.debian.org/1087743
