Package: libsane
Version: 1.0.17-4
Severity: normal
Subject: libsane: wrong permissions with HP6300C hot- or coldplugging
Followup-For: Bug #339669
Package: libsane
Version: 1.0.17-4
Hi,
I did a fresh install of Etch yesterday. Plugging in my HP6300C
libsane (or udev) seems to fail to set correct permissions on the device.
Upgrading libsane to the latest version in unstable didn't solve the
problem.
Here is a short list of the symptoms:
####
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sane-find-scanner
<snip>
found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0, product=0x0601) at libusb:002:002
# Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
# SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.
####
feanor:/home/hanke# scanimage -L
device `hp:libusb:002:002' is a Hewlett-Packard ScanJet 63x0C flatbed scanner
####
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ scanimage -L
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
####
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ll /proc/bus/usb/002/002
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 57 2006-07-04 13:42 /proc/bus/usb/002/002
####
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ egrep "03f0.*0601" /etc/sane.d/hp.conf
usb 0x03f0 0x0601
####
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ egrep "03f0.*0601" /etc/udev/libsane.rules
SYSFS{idVendor}=="03f0", SYSFS{idProduct}=="0601", MODE="664", GROUP="scanner"
I have no clue want goes wrong. As you can see the scanner is correctly listed
in
libsane.rules and hp.conf.
Thanks in advance,
Michael
