Package: telnetd-ssl
Version: 0.17.16+0.1-2
Severity: important

Like in the previous CTRL-C bug, telnetd-ssl is still killing connections due
to control characters. I often use Slirp to make PPP connections through a
telnet connection. They are dropped in very short order due to the 8bit data
that Slirp transmits.

Also, in an unrelated incident, FTP was disallowed by the firewall where I
am. I thus needed to use ZModem through telnet (when scp was unavailable) to
transfer files. This also causes telnet to drop the connection.

By using the -e switch to escape control characters, the session can be made
to stay alive much longer, but not indefinately. I was transferring some
large files and got 10MB transferred before the connection died using the -e
switch.
