Package: install
Package: base
Version: woody sparc
If woody is network installed on a Ultrasparc 1 with sbus ethernet it
may be impossible to get a working machine without access to CDROM or
other media.
Kernel 2.4.18 has a bug in ethernet that causes frequent stalls. It will
however network install??
So a network installed machine then will not access the lan with enough
reliability to use apt. Upgrading to "2.4.21 sparc 64" solves the
problem, but this assumes you can get a kernel onto the machine short of
typing it in !
I have 2 identical machines, one weathered the storm of ethernet errors
and squeaked through the update - the other always fails to get enough
data between the ethernet stalls.
Machines are "Ultra 1 creator 3d"
