Package: libmysqlclient10
Version: 3.23.56-2
Severity: important

Hello

MySQL-4.1 introduces a new default password mode. libmysqlclient10 does
not support this authentication method and aborts connections with e.g.

 DBI connect('database=mysql;host=localhost','debian-sys-maint',...)
failed: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by
server; consider upgrading MySQL client at ./test.pl line 16

Temporarily I add the "old-passwords = 1" option to /etc/mysql/my.cnf to
reduce the pressure for this issue but perl/php etc. should move to
libmysqlclient12 as soon as possible.

I will also contact debian-legal for a final statement on the licence
which should be really DFSG now.

bye,

-christian-
