Package: ksynaptics
Version: 0.3.1-1
Severity: important
*** Please type your report below this line ***
Hi,
although there is a brand new version in testing, it cannot be convinced that
the driver is there :-(
I have in my Xorg.log.0:
(II) Synaptics touchpad driver version 0.14.5 (1405)
(--) Synaptics Touchpad auto-dev sets device to /dev/input/event1
(**) Option "Device" "/dev/input/event1"
(**) Option "SHMConfig" "true"
(**) Option "HorizScrollDelta" "0"
(--) Synaptics Touchpad touchpad found
(**) Option "SendCoreEvents" "true"
(**) Synaptics Touchpad: always reports core events
Note the version. There are several bugs:
1. It silently has all options disabled, effectively doing nothing. This should
somehow be reflected by the icon shown.
2. By trying to configure ksynaptics (right click on the icon), it tells me
that I have to set the Option "UseShm" to true. However, consulting the
manpage, no such option exists and also has no effect. Instead, the error
message is gone, after setting "ShmConfig" to true.
3. After getting past bug 2, the next one appears, telling me:
"No usable driver has been found!
Either your driver is not correctly installed or you are using a wrong version.
You need at least driver version 0.14.4!"
As you can see above, I have 0.14.5 installed and running which is definitely a
later version than 0.14.4.
The issue might also be an outdated libsynaptics.
This makes ksynaptics unusable with current xorg synaptics driver.

Yes, works now :)
However, disabling touchpad while typing does not seem to work. Horizontal
scrolling doesn't work either.
Do those features need hardware support? If yes, the program should at least
mention that.
Thanks for your work
