Package: security.debian.org
Severity: important

Hello,

As discussed on debian-security, this host (82.94.249.158) has been
performing very poorly for many weeks, to the extent that people
using apt with it are severely hampered during day-to-day operations
(most download attempts from it appear to time-out). I believe this
warrants the severity of 'Important':

http://lists.debian.org/debian-security/2006/02/msg00047.html
(and continuing in March:
http://lists.debian.org/debian-security/2006/03/msg00002.html)

Here are some quick tests - they are confirmed by the discussion above:

$ time GET -H 'Host: security.debian.org'
http://82.94.249.158/debian-security/dists/sarge/updates/main/binary-i386/Packages

I would be grateful if those responsible for maintaining the debian.org
zone file would remove this IP address from the round-robin for the time
being, until the problems with this host have been resolved.

Apologies if this is already been looked at; in the event that it is,
it might be worth an announcement on debian-devel-announce or
debian-security-announce. If I am able to provide any more details
on this issue, I will be more than happy to help.

Many thanks,

Dominic.

tartini hasn't been part of the security.d.o rotation for a while, so
I'm closing this report.

Adam
