Dear Maintainer,

xdg-desktop-portal-gnome crashes a Gnome session at login when selecting a
wayland
session while it runs fine in an Xorg session.

Other wayland desktops such as enlightenment and wayfire run fine but
Gtk applications starts with a lag of dozens of seconds, showing in logs
a similar error. As far as I can say it is this, but I wasn't able to
find more details.

Do you have evidence of this crash? The Journal messages you quoted are about xdg-desktop-portal, and they indicate that xdg-desktop-portal-gtk (not xdg-desktop-portal-gnome) took too long to start up (which is bad, but is not a crash).

Please look at the systemd Journal with journalctl, preferably as a privileged user (root or a member of the adm group), to get an overview of what is happening at the time.

Actually I found  no evidence of a crash as either xdg-desktop-portal-gtk or xdg-desktop-portal-gnome exited with an error code.

I read the logs founding no apparent clue.

I somehow solved the issue removing ~/.config/dconf/user; I dumped its keys but again I couldn't find any potential issue.

Thank you everyone for your time and attention but my issue does not deserve to waste your time anymore, so I'm posting this to [email protected], signaling that it shall be closed.
