… ppc64el (release architecture); OpenJDK 11 is worse (it crashes after
this info; 8 only dumps then continues), and, given that the buildd logs
don’t contain this, it is almost certainly a qemu-user issue.

https://github.com/multiarch/qemu-user-static/issues/128 is another user
reporting this issue.

I retried exporting QEMU_CPU=POWER8 having learnt about its existence
while searching about this bug, it does not fix it though.

It looks like this issue has been fixed in a later qemu version.
At least I can't reproduce it on bookworm version of qemu.
Closing this bug report now, - feel free to reopen it if you
think it is incorrect and the issue is still present.
