Hi,
I finally updated a nginx buster LXC to bullseye (this report is done on
my laptop so don't pay attention to the System information below). By
doing so I had to install iproute2 on that container because nginx-light
depends on it.
I'm unsure why that dependency was added (I couldn't find the
explanation on changelog.Debian) but in my case the container ip
configuration is done externally so there's not much which can be done.
Would it be possible to explain the reason for the dependency and maybe
demote it to recommends?

This patch primarily addressed issues on GNU/kFreeBSD. And GNU/kFreeBSD has
been removed from Debian.
* d/control: let nginx-core depend on geoip2 instead of geoip.
Harmonizing with Ubuntu downstream (Closes: 921034).
* d/control: remove iproute2 dependency, and do not check open port 80
in d/nginx.postinst. This test is no longer necessary, as the systemd
log message is sufficient (Closes: 1023382).
* d/control: remove lua module from nginx-extras and remove from d/t/control
as well. Lua module had a problematic dependency, it didn't work on all
platforms due to its dependency on luajit. Therefore it is better to
remove it from the nginx-extras dependency. Lua module will still be
installable as a separate module.
* d/copyright: update Nginx Inc. copyright year

configuration options, so that the products built is unrelated with
the build system. This is especially useful for building nginx for i386
but the build sysroot is running on the amd64 kernel (armhf and arm64
