Package: mozilla-firefox
Version: 1.0+dfsg.1-1
Severity: normal

If bookmarks.html is read-only, and I try to bookmark a page, the
'Add bookmark' window remains open forever after I press 'Add', instead of
closing immediatly if bookmarks.html has write permission. If I close
the window (click on the 'x' on top of the window), the bookmark can be shown
in the bookmarks list, but it is not there if I close firefox and open
it again.

bookmarks.html could be read-only by accident or intentionally, and the
behavior described could be interpreted by a user that "something"
happens with bookmarks, but an explicit warning of the problem would be
better for the user. (e.g. "bookmarks file is read-only. Your bookmark will be
lost when you close the browser")

Regards,

                                                Victor

Version: 115.12.0esr-1+rm

src:iceweasel has been superseded by src:firefox-esr in version 45.0esr-1 in March 2016. Transitional packages to ease upgrades were provided in the wheezy, jessie, stretch and buster releases. The transitional packages have been removed finally before the bullseye release in August 2021. After regular security support for buster ended in August 2022 and LTS support ended in June 2024, I'm closing the remaining bug reports now.
