I find that many HTML5 style notifications aren't shown in iceweasel (not
new in this version, just finally got motivated to dig a little due to the
notification enhancements advertised in this version).
Most notification demo sites work, but notably gmail only sometimes works,
and most annoyingly, google calendar _never_ works.
Searching in bugzilla, I find these reports that look similar, but I'm not
sure how to dig in further to find out if one of them matches my case:

Installing this extension to disable libnotify usage makes notifications
from my "problem" sites work properly, though naturaully now with XUL
instead of libnotify appearance.

It's also worth noting that there are new notification control options as of
44.0 in the XUL version that don't seem to be accessible from the libnotify
version.

src:iceweasel has been superseded by src:firefox-esr in version
45.0esr-1 in March 2016. Transitional packages to ease upgrades were
provided in the wheezy, jessie, stretch and buster releases. The
transitional packages have been removed finally before the bullseye
release in August 2021.
After regular security support for buster ended in August 2022 and LTS
support ended in June 2024, I'm closing the remaining bug reports now.
