Package:gdm3

Package: gdm3 (or /usr/lib/gdm-simple/greeter for that)
Version: (2.30.5-6squeeze3) stable from
/usr/share/doc/gdm3/changelog.Debian.gz

I have alot of entries in my /var/log/gdm3/:0-greeter.log that seem
to indicate that there is a problem.

** (process:1687): DEBUG: Greeter session pid=1687 display=:0.0

the caller is in

^ That last one fills up my logfile until the end, the other's are
some other samples of what I get.

To reproduce you may just have to look in /var/log/gdm3/:0-
greeter.log and do your normal login/desktop things, if you
installed the default gui and stuff.

Observerations:
I found a reference to these error messages at
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=652681 and
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=661898 and neither of
them ever seem to have gotten fixed over there.
http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=58493 has some advice
which I tried but which didn't work for me. He indicated that the
problem is with metacity and the suggestion was to temporarily
replace that with OpenBox or Compiz, but running the --replace
command like they say just froze up my desktop.

Running: Squeeze with x86_64 2.6.32-5-amd64 kernel. Gnome and
default desktop type of setup. Nothing installed from source.

There have been many changes to Debian since this bug was originally
reported. If you are still experiencing this issue with Debian 13 (or
with Debian 12 or Testing or Unstable), please report a new bug.

Thank you,
Jeremy BĂcha
