In addition to all GPU archs supported by the current v550 (from Maxwell to
Ada/Hopper), this version also supports the new Blackwell architecture, that is
currently not supported by any officially Debian-packaged driver, which limits
Debian's adoption on newer hardware.
This version is also widely considered to be the most stable among those
supporting Blackwell, as the subsequent v580 introduced numerous bugs that made
it unusable for several hardware configurations (see the feedback thread on the
Nvidia forum: https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/580-release-feedback-
discussion/341205 ). While v580 is the last one with support for Maxwell,
Pascal and Volta archs, until the mentioned problems are fixed, v575 currently
remains the best driver in 5xx series, supporting most hardware types and
causing least issues. Also, it is impossible to predict how long it will take
Nvidia to fix the outstanding issues in v580 to reach stability comparable to
v575: it make take several months or even not happen at all.

In its original form, v575 does not compile on kernels 6.16+, so relevant
patches from v550 need to be ported.
If v575 cannot be packaged for Sid for whatever reasons, then please consider
packaging it for Experimental series.
Many Thanks!

v575 has security issues and is unlikely to receive fixes or any further
updates from Nvidia, so it's not a good candidate for Debian packaging. I
believe this is the list of relevant CVEs:
https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5670/~/security-bulletin%3A-nvidia-gpu-display-drivers---july-2025
I filed bug #1123801 instead to package any version supporting Blackwell,
suggesting v580 as it is also the last one supporting older GPUs.
Thanks!
