Package: lintian
Version: 2.128.0
Severity: normal

Hi,

Starting with version 2.128.0, lintian emit the following tag:

P: glibc source: redundant-priority-optional-field [debian/control:47]

While policy 4.7.3 stop recommending the "Priority" field, this doesn't
make this field redundant. Indeed for this field, dpkg defaults to
"optional" if not present for a source package, and to the source value
for binary package. As a consequence, removing the entry for binary
packages might actually change the resulting priority.

Therefore, for binary packages, and in addition to the current check,
lintian should verify that the priority of the source package is
"optional" before deciding the field is redundant.

Regards
Aurelien
