there have been several new upstream releases, cf.

The last new upstream release finding its way into Debian was 3.18,
uploaded by me, the former maintainer, in 2017, and the last maintainer
update to the ascii packaging has been uploaded in 2020. I find this
state rather worrying, so I must ask: is ascii still maintained?
