Package: fonts-noto-core-NEW
Severity: normal
Subject: Removing fonts-noto-core unexpectedly removes Cinnamon desktop meta
packages
Description:
While removing fonts-noto-core on Debian 12 Cinnamon, several essential desktop
meta-packages
were removed unexpectedly. This includes 'cinnamon-desktop-environment' and
'task-cinnamon-desktop'.
Additionally, system fallback fonts were missing, causing display issues in the
terminal and menus.
Steps to reproduce:
1. sudo apt purge fonts-noto-core
2. Observe that Cinnamon desktop meta-packages are removed
3. Terminal fonts display as empty boxes
Expected behavior:
- Only the Noto fonts should be removed
- Essential desktop packages must remain installed
- System fallback fonts should stay intact
Additional information:
- Debian 12 (Cinnamon)
- Problem occurs only when using 'sudo apt purge fonts-noto-core'
- Installing 'fonts-noto-core' again restores desktop functionality

You apparently discovered that when you remove dependencies of
software, that the software does not work anymore. That seems by
design.
Also the package you filed this against doesn't exist.
