Package: baloo-kf5
Version: 5.28.0-2
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
upon enabling baloo file search (System settings -> Search -> File Search) in
Stretch after upgrade,
it starts to index files. However, there are brief surges of CPU use which
lead to 100% use
of one core out of 4 available. During this surge, the whole plasma desktop
becomes unusable,
eg. desktops cannot be switched, terminal freezes, the surges happen about
every 10 s and
last about 2-3 s. Although in Debian 8, baloo did use significant amount of CPU
as well,
the desktop freezing did not occur. Finally not every surge leads to a complete
lockup of the plasma
desktop.
In the worst event that baloo fully takes over resources of one core, the rest
of the system has
still available sufficient resources to continue functioning without
interuption.
