Package: sylpheed
Version: 3.0.2-1
Severity: minor
Since version 3.0 Sylpheed gained auto-update functionality.
To quote upstream changelog:
src/mainwindow.c: implemented update check (using curl).
Apparently this feature crawled its way into the Debian package.
One can easily see this, as Sylpheed spits on startup the following
(in the absence of installed curl):
(sylpheed:27940): Sylpheed-WARNING **: Couldn't execute curl
What is worse - there is not meaningful way to disable auto-update via
Sylpheed GUI. The appropriate setting in sylpheedrc is called
'auto_update_check'.
So, either:
1) Sylpheed should get curl to its Recommends.
2) This feature should be disabled. I installed this package
the usual way, so I expect it updating the usual way - apt-get, aptitude and
friends.
