Hi,
i'm writing this, because today I upgraded to the newest version of
courier-imap and courier-imap-ssl.
I saw a dialog telling me that MAILDIR from /etc/courier/imap will not be used
anymore. It took some time for me to figure out where I hace to set this
option to get courier-imap(-ssl) to work again.
Please just add to the dialog that the user should edit his/hers courier imapd
config file (imapd and imapd-ssl) in /etc/courier and change MAILDIRPATH to
their desired value.

I have recently taken over maintenance of the courier packages. I apologize
that nobody responded to this bug report in a timely manner.
As many years have passed and the default install is now SSL enabled, I am
closing this bug. However, if you ever experience issues like this in the
future, please feel free to file a bug report and I will address it quickly so
that other people do not experience problems upgrading.
