Package: veracrypt
Severity: wishlist
Version: https://github.com/veracrypt/VeraCrypt

Short-desc: Disk encryption utility (successor to TrueCrypt) - request
for packaging

Long-desc:
Veracrypt provides on-the-fly disk encryption for volumes, partitions,
and system/boot drives and is a maintained fork/successor to TrueCrypt.
This RFP requests that Veracrypt be packaged for Debian. Upstream
provides source tarballs and binary installers; packaging should produce
at least the CLI and GUI binaries (veracrypt, veracrypt-gui) and any
supporting libraries or helper utilities required for FUSE,
kernel/secure boot integration, or systemd units if applicable.

Upstream contact: https://github.com/idrassi
Upstream source: https://github.com/veracrypt/VeraCrypt

Known/expected build-depends (please verify):
- debhelper (>= 12)
- cmake
- pkg-config
- libfuse-dev
- libwxgtk3.0-gtk3-dev (or libwxgtk-webview-cpp-dev depending on GUI)
- libssl-dev
- libgcrypt20-dev (if used)
- zlib1g-dev
- libblkid-dev
- libpam0g-dev (if PAM integration)
- libsystemd-dev (if systemd integration)
(Adjust exact packages and versions during packaging.)

Binary packages to produce (suggested):
- veracrypt - command-line tool and core library
- veracrypt-gui - GUI frontend (depends on veracrypt)

Rationale:
Veracrypt is a widely used, actively maintained disk encryption tool
that fills a clear user need for secure, on-disk encryption and
cross-compatibility with existing TrueCrypt volumes. Inclusion in Debian
would provide users an officially packaged, auditable, and
easily-updatable distribution method.

This was not filed against the wnpp package, so it is not easily found.
And there was already an RFP filed for this package as #1029456. Closing.

Thanks,
