Package: libmateweather1t64
Version: 1.26.3-4
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I looked at the Weather Report Panel widget and set it up like this

dconf read /org/mate/panel/objects/clock/prefs/cities
['<location name="" city="Budapest" timezone="Europe/Budapest"
latitude="47.433334" longitude="19.266666" code="LHBP" current="true"/>']

and noticed that no data is coming in; all values remain empty.

I was looking for solutions and found this patch (I didn't create it myself),

https://github.com/svavassori/libmateweather-patch/blob/master/url-and-
text.patch

several other sources (for example: https://www.johndball.com/fixing-the-awc- url-on-older-metarmaps/ ) also pointed to this as the solution to the current problem, including its contents. So I did this without Docker and installed the
patched application.

https://github.com/svavassori/libmateweather-patch/tree/master

The weather settings for the Clock and Weather widget have been applied; the
data is coming in, and everything is fine.

That's the result I was expecting.

This patch was officially included in version 1.26.4 (the new maintenance
release was actually released last year), but it is not packaged in the main
repository for Debian 12 and 13.

Regarding package versions in the Debian line, even the packages in sid are
older, so they likely do not include this newer fix:

https://packages.debian.org/search?searchon=sourcenames&keywords=libmateweather

Official upstream version status in the GitHub repository at the tags level:

https://github.com/mate-desktop/libmateweather/tags

I don't even understand why the URL parameters are hardcoded in the code—why
aren't they specified in a config file, for example... Oh well, that's how they
did it, so that's how it is.
