The default login square should have a tiny "xdm" etc. somewhere on
it, so users can identify what program is having trouble if something
goes wrong.

Hi,

I prefer to keep the upstream-provided default greeting and leave additional
program or
distribution-specific identification to local configuration, so I am closing
this
wishlist request as wontfix.

The greeting can be changed directly in /etc/X11/xdm/Xresources, without an
additional xmessage window. For example, replace the existing xlogin*greeting
entry with:

    xlogin*greeting: xdm on CLIENTHOST

A Debian release label can also be included in the text if desired.

Thanks,
Boyuan
