Description : extremely fast Python package installer and resolver
written in Rust

uv is an extremely fast Python package installer and resolver, written in Rust.
It is designed as a drop-in replacement for common pip, pip-tools, and pyenv
workflows, offering 10-100x speedups over standard python packaging tools.

UV is much faster than pip, and pyenv. Using it allows you to replace multiple
tools. The fact that it pulls down pre-compiled python versions speeds python
installs up a great deal. It also makes it much easier for users as they don't
have to track down packages like lzma-dev and the like.

I'm willing to become a Debian maintainer if needed to get this package included
with Debian. I think with the changes recently made to Python on debian
requiring
people to use pyenv to install non-debian maintained python packages the ease
of
use and speed of uv makes it worthwhile to consider to include.

It would most likely fall under wither the pkg-rust team to maintain or
for the PythonTeam to maintain.

uv is already in Debian, closing this bug:
https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/uv

however, uv in Debian is not at the current upstream version, so maybe you can offer your help to the maintainer to get it updated.

Daniel
