Package: freeipmi

Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

On 3 machines using Xen after reboot in the Dom0:

The following command return part of the result and a segmentation fault:

root@x30:~# ipmi-sensors
...
Segmentation fault

root@x30:~# dmesg
Mar 9 10:47:32 x30 kernel: [ 5424.911251] traps: ipmi-sensors[19089] general protection ip:7ff78a233479 sp:7ffff1af16c0 error:0 in libfreeipmi.so.16.0.2[7ff78a0d7000+2b1000]

After a random period of uptime, issue tends to disappear.

Hi,

I'm closing this bug, since there is not enough information to investigate it further:

- the original report was solved by loading the IPMI kernel drivers (ipmi_si, ipmi_devintf, ...); - the request for more information from 2019 never got an answer, and the reported version (1.4.5, from jessie) is about ten years old; libfreeipmi has received many fixes since then.

If you can still reproduce the crash with the current version, please reopen the bug and attach a backtrace, for example by running ipmi-sensors under gdb with freeipmi-tools-dbgsym and libfreeipmi17-dbgsym installed (or with debuginfod enabled), plus the hardware model and whether the IPMI kernel drivers are loaded.

Regards,
Fabio
