I am maintaining the package alumet, where one of its plugins need the
shared library in libamd-smi26. I notice however, that that package
depends on libdrm-dev which pulls in a lot of seemingly unneeded stuff,
bloating systems not used for development, only need runtime library.
Is libdrm-dev really needed for all use cases of libamd-smi26? If using
libamd-smi26 without libdrm-dev is strictly speaking possible but
considered exotic and fringe, then please relax to only recommend it,
and if considered reasonably normal use then please relax further to
only suggest it - if needed at all at runtime.
Kind regards,
- Jonas

amdsmi (10.1-1~exp2) experimental; urgency=medium
.
* d/control: update Depends for amd-smi, libamd-smi27 and
libgoamdsmi-shim64-1
libamd-smi27 dlopen amdgpu1 so no need for all drm backends to be pulled
only libdrm-amdgpu1 is enough. Go shim also pulls that transitively
through libamd-smi27. And for amd-smi package, versioned SONAME also
works fine so pulling libamd-smi-dev is redundant instead we are pulling
libamd-smi27 now. (Closes: #1143785)
