Package: insserv
Version: 1.04.0-1
Severity: important

Since my last bug-report, I switched to sysv-rc, so I gave insserv
another try. This was not really a success. For example, let's consider
the "halt" script of rc0. insserv has correctly scanned its dependencies
since the .depend.start file contains:
  halt: umountroot

Unfortunately, this dependency is not respected when creating the
symlinks. Although umountroot is S60, insserv does:
  remove service /etc/init.d/../rc0.d/S99halt
  enable service ../init.d/halt -> /etc/init.d/../rc0.d/S20halt

This is obviously really annoying, since the computer will poweroff
while the filesystems are still mounted. "halt" is not the only case
though and a few other files get moved against their dependencies.

I also noticed two other issues. First the .depend.boot file is empty.
It should have contained the dependencies of the rcS scripts.

In addition, insserv is confused by the presence of an override for
mountvirtfs. This script is obsolete and has been replaced by
mountkernfs. As a consequence, both the override of mountvirtfs and the
real mountkernfs provide the mountvirtfs service.

Description:
insserv - Reorder boot sequence based on LSB init.d script dependencies
Closes: 350188
Changes:
 insserv (1.08.0-5) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * New flag -k for check-initd-order to look at the stop sequence instead
     of the start sequence.
   * Correct override files for acpid, alsa, alsa-utils, apmd,
     hwclockfirst.sh, ifupdown, modutils, networking, nullmailer,
     openbsd-inetd, pcmcia, procps.sh, and update-hostname.
   * Remove override files for bootlogd, bootmisc.sh, checkfs.sh,
     checkroot.sh, glibc.sh, halt, hostname.sh, module-init-tools,
     mountall.sh, mountdevsubfs.sh, mountnfs.sh, reboot, rmnologin,
sendsigs, single, stop-bootlogd, umountfs umountnfs.sh and urandom
as the scripts themselves now have correct dependency information
     in them.
   * With the current patches and dependency info, insserv generate
     correct shutdown order. (Closes: #350188)
