Hi,
the CGI that is currently used for maintaining the list of sponsoree
and sponsors is not satisfying. An idea came up recently ... we decided
to use the BTS to keep track of people looking for sponsors. It provides
all the flexibilty we need.
So, please add a "sponsorship" virtual package with the maintainer
being "Debian Mentors <[email protected]>". That way a
sponsor request will automatically end up there ...
When someone has a sponsor, he tags the bug as fixed until he's accepted
as Debian developer. It's difficult to make it more easy ...

mentors.debian.net and the -mentors mailing list have pretty much
supplanted the need for a sponsorship pseudopackage, and done it quite
a bit better than the bts would be capable of.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing
that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot
possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to
get at or repair.
