Package: dovecot
Version: 1.0.rc7-1

As I am running libpam-ldap users are created elsewhere. Exim4 creates
the mail folder when it delivers mail which cucipop (orphaned non-free)
could use.

With dovecot both imap4 and pop3 sessions drop immediately after the
user has been authenticated. To fix it would need to create needed
directories as the user including the home directory.

Permissions for both mail and home are correct : -

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/lib/dpkg/info$ ls -ld /var/mail/ /home/
drwxrwsr-x 544 root staff 13160 2006-09-28 10:06 /home/
drwxrwsr-x 3 root mail 13080 2006-09-28 11:07 /var/mail/

First pop3 session was pop3 only user with no home.
Second pop3 session was me with imap4 and home.
