Package: bacula-console-wx
Version: 1.38.9-10
Severity: important

I'm trying to use the current testing/etch version of
bacula-console-wx with a stable/sarge version of bacula-director.

The bacula-director on sarge is version 1.36.2 (28 February 2005).

So far everything seems to work. Only when I try to do a restore I
can select the job but when I get to the file browser I can't get
the directory contents listed.

On the console tab I see this error message:

> $ .dir
> Illegal command. Enter "done" to exit.
> $

Looks like the older Sarge director doesn't understand the leading dot
when in "file selection mode". (It seems to work with all other commands
when not in "file selection mode")

Entering restore's "file selection mode" manually (within bacula-console-wx)
works and confirms my suspicion : When issuing "dir" I get my directory listing,
when issuing ".dir" I get "Illegal command. Enter "done" to exit.".

I have not tested against a testing/etch bacula-director yet.

cheers
-henrik

Bacula protocol changes across major versions, and upstream does not
support use of clients from one major version with servers from another.
This bug report is most likely only the tip of the iceberg as far as
problems that would be seen are concerned.
