Package: network-manager
Version: 0.6.4-3+b1
Severity: normal
By refusing to work with interfaces that aren't marked auto, or are
missing, network-manager is losing out on some vital features. For
instance, I want to issue an iwpriv command to my wireless card before
attempting to scan for networks.

Well, this behaviour is most likely not going to change. Either you
manage your devices with NetworkManager or through /e/n/i. Supporting
all the custom configuration options, that ifupdown provides is simply
not feasible or easibly doable within NM (think of mapping etc).
You can however place scripts in /etc/network/if-*.d/, that are called
by NetworkManagerDispatcher on device activation.
Cheers,
Michael
