Package: bnetd
Version: N/A; reported 2001-01-10
Severity: serious
The existence of /var/cache/bnetd/players violates Debian Policy section
3.1.1: "The location of all installed files and directories must comply with the
Linux File system Hierarchy Standard (FHS)."
According to FHS 2.1, section 5.2, "/var/cache is intended for cached data
from applications ... The application must be able to regenerate or restore
the data ... cached files can be deleted without data loss ... Files located
under /var/cache may be expired in an application specific manner, by the
system administrator, or both. The application should always be able to
recover from manual deletion of these files."
One cannot delete the files in /var/cache/bnetd/players without losing data,
so that directory should be moved elsewhere, such as /var/lib/bnetd/players.

Version: 0.4.19-1.1
This bug was fixed in an NMU five and a half years ago, but never
closed. I'm closing it with the correct version so that its status can
be properly version-tracked.
