Package: pppoe
Version: 1.7-1

I have recently started using debian and plan on replacing my
current redhat based ip-masq box with a new debian based box.
My internet connection is via adsl with pppoe using the rp-pppoe
scripts. I downloaded this (actually newer) version of rp-pppoe
in deb format to make sure that everything would work fine. I
was shocked to find out that the man page for pppoe states that
I should use adsl-setup to configure my connection and this package
conveniently doesnt include it (whereas my older rpm based one did).
In fact, it includes none of the mentioned adsl scripts. They are all
conveniently mentioned in the SEE ALSO in the pppoe man. There
even is man pages for them. It is just that the scripts are gone.

How about updating this to the most recent version of the rp-pppoe
client and including all the scripts that it comes with. If there is a
reason to not include the scripts perhaps it would be better if the
man pages were also changed to reflect the removal of them and
state the method by which one would setup the client too.

There is a 2.2 version at:   http://www.roaringpenguin.com/pppoe/

Thanks

Version: 3.3-1.1

These bugs were fixed in an NMU, but never closed. I'm closing them with
the correct version so that their status can be properly
version-tracked.

For reference:

 rp-pppoe (3.3-1.1) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * Non Maintainer Upload.
   * mark /etc/ppp/ppp_on_boot.dsl as conffile (closes: #132117)
   * use full path in /etc/ppp/peers/dsl-provider ppp_on_boot.dsl
     (closes: #111551)
   * small fix so can build on potato (closes: #117316)
   * remove references to adsl-* in manpages and point user to
     /usr/share/doc/pppoe/README.Debian (closes: #71840)

Adam
