Package: kudzu
Version: 1.1.67-

The related package is kudzu-common 0.99.45-2

When I run kudzu it puts this entry into /etc/sysconfig/hwconf:

class: MODEM
bus: PCI
detached: 0
device: ttyS14
driver: unknown
desc: "Unknown vendor|unknown device 131f:2000"
vendorId: 131f
deviceId: 2000
subVendorId: 131f
subDeviceId: 2000
pciType: 1
pcidom: 0
pcibus: 0
pcidev: d
pcifn: 0

It also links /dev/modem to /dev/ttyS14. But ttyS14 is a serial port
connected to my dumb terminal and not a modem at all. Thus if I were
to try to dial out with the modem, the AT commands for the modem would
be erroneously sent to the dumb terminal. Here's the results from lspci
and scanpci (other devices edited out). They don't seem to think it's
a modem. It's really only a 16550 serial port.

Dear bug reporter,;)

kudzu is not buildable anymore and is already removed from etch/testing.

Nobody seems to care about the package. I asked the pkg-knoppix people on alioth
but it doesn't seems to be an active project.
The main reason for packaging the kudzu hardware detection was to have it
packaged
for knoppix. But they are still using their own kudzu build.:(

>From upstream we got the following information:

....
Aside from that... what are you using kudzu for? You shouldn't. (it basically
is sticking around in RH/Fedora until the installer can be ported away
from it.)

Thats why kudzu will be removed from Debian.
I'm closing all kudzu bugs.

Thanks from the kudzu maintainer.
