Package: hal
Version: 0.5.8.1-1
Severity: important
After updating to version 0.5.8.1-1 of hal an USB stick is automatically
mounted at first attempt after boot for root and for users. But hal
fails to unmount usb devices with error "Cannot unmount the volume 'USB
DISK'". The detailed error message says "Cannot open /media/.hal-mtab".
ls -al /media/ gives
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 1024 2006-10-18 23:49 .
drwxr-xr-x 22 root root 1024 2006-10-10 21:38 ..
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 2006-01-07 16:27 cdrom -> cdrom0
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 1024 2006-01-07 16:27 cdrom0
---S--s--T 1 root root 0 2006-10-18 21:32 .hal-mtab-lock
A second attempt to mount the device fails for user and root until the
computer is rebooted.

Closing this bug, as it is obviously not a hal issue, rather g-v-m using
pmount for mounting and after installing gnome-mount, gnome-mount (which
itself uses hal) for unmounting.
Cheers,
Michael
