Package: auctex
Version: 11.55-1
Severity: important

Activating auctex with certain options like:

(setq load-path (cons "/usr/local/share/emacs/site-lisp" load-path))
(require 'tex-site)

(custom-set-variables
 ;; custom-set-variables was added by Custom -- don't edit or cut/pasteit!
;; Your init file should contain only one such instance.
 '(global-font-lock-mode t nil (font-lock))
)

make emacs freeze (CPU at 100 %) with a particular file available at
www.inma.ucl.ac.be/~haut/steadystate.tex

If the option global-font-lock-mode is removed, the freeze disappears.
But removing it in my much longer .emacs is not sufficient.

This was tested on a up-to-date Debian/Sarge and a up-to-date
Ubuntu/Dapper

Maybe this bug should be tagged as critical since it prevents me to write
my thesis and I will have to learn vi....

Great news. I'm closing the bug with the version you checked.

Thanks for reporting,
