At this stage of the freeze, I'm thinking that it may be better to leave the version of ocaml that we have in trixie be the one we ship. Then we'd need to hope that's not going to bite us in unstable.

If I understand you correctly, reverting wouldn't help to fix the situation in unstable, right? Thinking about it more, what does this mean for trixie? When one would rebuild (even without changes) in trixie, are things going to be different and/or incompatible?
