Hi, I have a CW058D. I had similar problems where cdrecord would hang,
unkillable and not writing (the drive's LED stayed dark). I had a hunch
that cdrecord might be to blame and I tried out cdrtools-2.00, compiled
it from source (downgrading my deb for cdrecord is something I didn't
want to bother with), and, lo and behold, several burns went on without
a hitch. Something must have changed from 2.00 to the present version.
The bug is with cdrecord.
